These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the website, platform, software, applications, and related services made available by eThesis P.C. ("eThesis", "we", "us", or "our").
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Services.

2. Definitions
In these Terms:
- "Services" means the eThesis website, platform, software, applications, features, content, and related services.
- "User" means any individual or entity accessing or using the Services.
- "Account" means a registered account used to access restricted parts of the Services.
- "Customer" means a university, research institution, company, organization, or other legal entity that purchases or is granted access to the Services.
- "User Content" means any content, data, documents, files, messages, submissions, notes, comments, metadata, or other materials uploaded, submitted, stored, or shared through the Services by Users.
- "Order Form" means any order, subscription form, proposal, quotation, statement of work, or similar commercial document agreed between eThesis and a Customer.
3. Scope of These Terms
These Terms apply to all Users of the Services, including website visitors, account holders, students, faculty members, researchers, reviewers, evaluators, administrators, and Customers.
Where a Customer has entered into a separate written agreement with eThesis, including a master services agreement, order form, enterprise contract, or similar arrangement, that separate agreement shall prevail over these Terms to the extent of any conflict.
4. Eligibility and Authority
You may use the Services only if you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under applicable law.
If you access or use the Services on behalf of an institution, company, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to bind that entity to these Terms.
5. Accounts and Access
Certain features of the Services may require an Account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep such information updated.
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials;
- all activities occurring under your Account;
- ensuring that access to your Account is not shared except where expressly permitted by us in writing; and
- promptly notifying us of any unauthorized use, security breach, or suspected compromise of your Account.
We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate any Account where we reasonably believe that these Terms have been violated or that continued access may create legal, security, or operational risk.
6. Customer Accounts and Institution-Controlled Access
Where the Services are provided to a university, institution, or other Customer, access may be created, managed, suspended, or removed by that Customer or on its instructions.
In such cases, the Customer may control user roles, permissions, access rights, project assignments, academic workflows, evaluation rights, retention settings, and related administrative functions. eThesis is not responsible for the Customer’s internal decisions, including academic, administrative, grading, publication, supervision, or disciplinary decisions.
7. License to Use the Services
Subject to these Terms and any applicable Order Form, eThesis grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable right to access and use the Services solely for your internal lawful purposes and only in accordance with these Terms.
No ownership rights are transferred to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by eThesis.
8. Acceptable Use
You shall not, and shall not permit any third party to, use the Services to:
- violate any applicable law, regulation, court order, academic rule, or third-party right;
- upload, store, transmit, or distribute unlawful, infringing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable content;
- commit or facilitate plagiarism, cheating, impersonation, academic misconduct, or research fraud;
- misrepresent identity, affiliation, credentials, authorship, or authority;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, adapt, modify, or create derivative works of the Services except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable mandatory law;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network connected to the Services;
- circumvent access controls, authentication measures, or security protections;
- introduce malware, ransomware, spyware, viruses, trojan horses, or other harmful code;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, index, mirror, or use automated means to access the Services except where expressly authorized by us in writing;
- resell, lease, sublicense, distribute, or commercially exploit the Services except as expressly agreed in writing;
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity, availability, or performance of the Services; or
- use the Services in a way that could damage eThesis, other Users, or third parties.
9. User Content
You retain any rights you may hold in your User Content, subject always to the rights of your institution, employer, sponsors, publishers, supervisors, or other third parties under applicable law, contract, policy, or academic rules.
You grant eThesis a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, process, display, back up, format, and otherwise use User Content solely to the extent necessary to provide, maintain, secure, support, improve, and make available the Services to you and authorized Users.
You represent and warrant that:
- you have all rights, permissions, consents, and legal bases necessary to upload and use the User Content through the Services;
- the User Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third-party rights;
- the User Content complies with applicable law and institutional policies; and
- the User Content does not contain malicious code or material intended to disrupt the Services.
10. Academic and Research Responsibility
eThesis provides software tools and workflows to support thesis, dissertation, research, supervision, communication, evaluation, reporting, and related processes. eThesis does not create academic content on behalf of Users unless explicitly stated in a separate feature description, and does not assume responsibility for the legality, originality, quality, accuracy, completeness, validity, authorship, or academic acceptance of any User Content.
Users remain solely responsible for their submissions, research conduct, citations, permissions, data accuracy, academic integrity, and compliance with institutional rules and applicable law.
11. Third-Party Services and Integrations
The Services may include integrations with, connections to, or links to third-party platforms, products, databases, communication tools, authentication providers, plagiarism-detection systems, research tools, repositories, payment processors, or other external services.
eThesis does not own or control such third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, security, performance, content, accuracy, legality, or privacy practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by the terms and policies of the relevant third party.
We may add, change, limit, or remove third-party integrations at any time.
12. Fees, Subscriptions, and Payment
Access to certain Services may require payment under a subscription, Order Form, quotation, invoice, or other commercial arrangement. Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- all fees are stated exclusive of VAT and any applicable taxes;
- fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable once invoiced or paid, except where required by law or expressly agreed in writing;
- payment obligations are binding for the agreed subscription or service term; and
- late payments may result in suspension of access, suspension of support, interest on overdue amounts, or termination.
Any trial, pilot, beta, promotional, or discounted access may be subject to specific additional terms.
13. Intellectual Property Rights
The Services, including all software, source code, object code, interfaces, designs, text, graphics, logos, workflows, know-how, documentation, databases, compilations, inventions, improvements, and all related intellectual property rights, are and shall remain the exclusive property of eThesis and/or its licensors.
Except for the limited usage rights expressly granted in these Terms or a separate written agreement, nothing in these Terms transfers any right, title, or interest in or to the Services.
You shall not remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, confidentiality, or proprietary rights notices contained in or on the Services.
14. Feedback
If you provide any suggestions, recommendations, ideas, enhancement requests, or other feedback regarding the Services, eThesis may use such feedback without restriction or obligation, and without payment, attribution, or compensation to you.
15. Confidentiality
Where you receive access to non-public information relating to eThesis, its technology, customers, pricing, product roadmaps, security practices, or business operations, you agree to keep such information confidential and not to disclose it to any third party except as required by law.
This clause does not apply to information that is publicly available without breach of duty, was lawfully known to you before disclosure, or is independently developed without use of confidential information.
16. Data Protection
The processing of personal data in connection with the Services is governed by our Privacy Policy and any applicable data processing terms or agreements. You agree to comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws in connection with your use of the Services.
Where a Customer acts as the controller of personal data and eThesis acts as processor or service provider, the relevant data processing arrangement shall govern that relationship.
17. Service Availability, Maintenance, and Changes
We may update, modify, maintain, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, temporarily or permanently, including features, integrations, interfaces, or technical requirements.
While we aim to provide reliable Services, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that the Services will always be available, secure, or free from defects.
18. Suspension and Termination
eThesis may suspend or terminate access to all or any part of the Services, with or without notice, where:
- you breach these Terms or any applicable agreement;
- payment is overdue;
- required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental authority;
- necessary to protect the Services, other Users, or eThesis from harm, liability, or security risk; or
- your access is controlled by a Customer and that Customer instructs us to suspend or terminate access.
Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately, except to the extent otherwise expressly agreed in writing.
19. Warranties Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
eThesis disclaims all warranties, representations, and conditions, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, satisfactory quality, uninterrupted availability, security, or accuracy.
Without limiting the foregoing, eThesis does not warrant that:
- the Services will meet your requirements or those of any institution or Customer;
- the Services will operate uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free;
- any data, results, reports, analytics, outputs, or content will be accurate, complete, or reliable; or
- any third-party integration or service will remain available or compatible.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, eThesis and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of data, loss of research opportunity, academic loss, or business interruption arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms, whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of eThesis arising out of or in connection with the Services or these Terms shall not exceed the total amount actually paid by the relevant Customer or User to eThesis for the Services during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability to the extent such liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
21. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless eThesis and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, settlements, penalties, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or relating to:
- your use of the Services;
- your User Content;
- your breach of these Terms;
- your violation of applicable law, academic rules, or third-party rights; or
- your misuse of the Services.
22. Export Control and Sanctions
You may not use, export, re-export, transfer, or make available the Services in violation of applicable export control, sanctions, or trade laws and regulations.
23. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws of Greece, excluding its conflict of laws principles.
The courts of Athens, Greece shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
24. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Unless otherwise stated, the revised Terms become effective upon publication.
Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
25. General Provisions
- If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
- No failure or delay by eThesis in exercising any right shall constitute a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign, transfer, delegate, or otherwise dispose of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
- We may assign or transfer these Terms or any rights under them as part of a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of assets.
- These Terms, together with any applicable Privacy Policy and any separate written agreement with eThesis, constitute the entire agreement between you and eThesis regarding the Services.
